Aston Martin Vantage engine
The engine starts out in life as a 4.2 litre Jaguar V8 but is then extensively reworked to become a 4.3 that churns out 380bhp and 302 torques. This is not enough. It is less torque than you get from a Mercedes
SLK, less bhp and torque than you get from a Vauxhall Monaro. And more worryingly it is less bhp and torque than you will get from the next Jaguar XK, which will be cheaper as well. And just as beautiful.

Aston Martin has used the Vantage name on a number of vehicles, normally indicating a high-performance version of another model. In one case, 1972–1973, the Vantage was a distinct model, being a
straight-6 powered version of the (normally V8) DBS and successor to the DB-series.
This was hailed at its 1977 introduction as "Britain's First Supercar" for its 170 mph (270 km/h) top speed. Its engine was shared with the Lagonda, but it used high-performance camshafts, increased
compression ratio, larger inlet valves and bigger carburettors mounted on new manifolds for increased output. Straight-line performance was the best of the day, with acceleration from 0–60 mph (97 km/h)
in 5.3 seconds, one-tenth of a second quicker than the Ferrari Daytona.
V8 Vantage engine (2005)
The V8 Vantage was initially powered by a 4.3 L (4300 cc) quad-cam 32-valve V8 which produced 380 hp (280 kW) at 7,300 rpm and 302 lb•ft (409 N•m) at 5,000 rpm. Though based loosely on Jaguar's
AJ-V8 engine architecture, this engine was unique to Aston Martin and featured race-style dry-sump lubrication, which enabled it to be mounted low in the chassis for an improved center of gravity. The
cylinder block and heads, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, camshafts, inlet and exhaust manifolds, lubrication system, and engine management were all Aston Martin designs and the V8 engine was
assembled by hand at the AM facility in Cologne, Germany, which also built the V12 engine for the DB9 and Vanquish.
The engine was front mid-mounted with a rear-mounted transaxle, giving a 49/51 front/rear weight distribution. Slotted Brembo brakes were also standard. The original V8 Vantage could accelerate to 60
mph (97 km/h) in 4.7 seconds topping out at 178 mph (286 km/h). Vantages with the enhanced 400 HP version of the 4.3 L V8 engine (included with the "N400" package or available individually as a
Power Upgrade kit) as well as later models with the 4.7 L V8 and 5.9L V12 were even faster.
V12 Vantage engine
On 11th December, 2007, as part of Aston Martin's opening of their own design studio, the company unveiled a concept based on the V8 Vantage. The car, known as the V12 Vantage RS, featured the V12
engine from the DBS and produced 600 hp (450 kW). The power along with the weight of 3,500 pounds (1,600 kg) allows the car to reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.1 seconds and achieve a top speed of 180
mph (290 km/h).
Aston Martin DBS Volante engine
Powered by the same 6.0-liter V12 engine that powers the coupe, the Volante develops 510 hp at 6500 rpm, and its peak 420 lb-ft of torque is delivered at 5750 rpm. Special by-pass valves in the exhaust
allow a quieter exhaust note at low speeds; at 4000 rpm these open to reduce the pressure in the system, raising the power output as well as generating God-like roar.
