Isuzu Engine Technology
The Isuzu 6H 7.8L Diesel Engine
is an engine that incorporates the worldwide knowledge of Isuzu diesel engine technology.
The 6H's excellent performance and quality are based on the many technological advantages
the engine has over competing engines.
- Ladder frame for light weight,
high rigidity, low noise, and low vibration
- Precision machined fit sleeve
for serviceability and better durability and reliability
- OHC, 4 valve layout for performance,
low emissions, and good fuel economy
- Piston with cooling channel,
nitrided crankshaft, and axial oil seal for durability and reliability
- High pressurized fuel injection
and damper (viscous-rubber type) for low noise and low vibration.
- Oil cooler with temperature
regulator valve for fast warm-up
- On the 6H engine, the fuel injection
system is a common rail system from Denso Corporation
- The fuel injection pump, fuel
common rail and the fuel injectors are made by Denso
One of the main features in using
the common rail system is independent control of fuel injection by
the engine computer. This independent control allows
for emission and power optimization in the design process. Noise reduction, knock
reduction and overall combustion efficiency also arise from the use of pilot injection.
The 6H pilot injection injects a small amount of fuel just prior to the conventional
fuel injection pulse. This pilot injection has been a strong factor in the effectiveness
of the 6H in achieving lower NOx emissions and more responsiveness in cold starting
conditions. The pilot injection feature improves engine performance on the 6H in
any operating condition. The fuel injection process is further enhanced by the self-diagnosing
features found on the closed loop fuel control system. The common rail system detects
engine conditions (engine speed, accelerator pedal angle, coolant temperature, etc.)
by means of its sensors and feeds back this data to the fuel injection algorithm

Isuzu 4H 5.2L Diesel Engine is an
engine that incorporates the worldwide knowledge of Isuzu diesel engine technology.

The NPR-Series Gasoline vehicle
is powered by the GMPT-V8 gasoline engine. The basic features of the Vortec 6000
V8 are 8 cylinders, 4 stroke operation, and 365 cubic inch displacement.
The LQ4 GMPT Vortec 6000 V8 truck engine has been designed to deliver better performance,
high fuel economy, less noise, lower emissions and reduced maintenance than its
predecessor.
The Vortec 6000 delivers more horsepower
than the competition's V-10 with the fuel-efficiency of a
V-8, and it beats the competition's gasoline-powered V-8s when it comes to peak
torque. The Vortec 6000 is equipped with a new close-coupled catalytic converter
system, which helps to reduce emissions and provide more customer value. The system
consists of two 102-cubic-inch (1.7 liters of volume per bank) converters, placed
five inches from the exhaust manifold, and a close-coupled Y-pipe. The converters
are bolted (rather than welded) to the exhaust manifold flange. They have a standard
construction, consisting of a ceramic substrate, insulating blanket material and
a steel shell. The new architecture replaces two previous mid-coupled converters.
The Vortec 6000 engine meets Federal emissions requirements and California Low Emissions
Vehicle (LEV I). It also meets near-zero evaporative emissions standards in all
states.
Businesses have discovered that
Isuzu medium duty trucks work like a big truck, but handle like a company car. They
like the unsurpassed visibility and maneuverability, ease of maintenance, plus high
driver satisfaction and productivity Isuzu trucks deliver year after year. Such
trucks are the N series, F and H series. New 2007 Isuzu cars are the SUV's Ascender
5 and 7 passenger, I-280, I-290, I-370 and the 2006 model I-350. Earlier include
the Trooper, Bighorn, Rodeo and a few others.
